November 13th -Skype Session - Happy Friday!

REFLECTION REFLECTION REFLECTION! That is what this skype session was about.. noun. the act of reflecting, as in casting back a light or heat, mirroring, or giving back or showing an image; the state of being reflected in this way. an image; representation; counterpart. a fixing of the thoughts on something; careful consideration. a thought occurring in consideration or meditation. This skype has helped me to look at my practise as a whole and the critical reflection side of things. We discussed fluidity and how things develop/progress and naturally shift. i think this will be an important thing to mention as part of my devlopment throughout the modules. I started very one minded and needed answers, wanting to get from A-B, but I have really learnt to find a journey, a patha nd enjoy the discoveries along the way. Like I find when analysisng a script or scene, things come out of it when you play. Things change and it's okay, what you think might happen or have 'planned' might not end up being that way especially in qualitive data research, amd that reflection and noticing is interesting in itself. We spoke about perception and how this changes throughout, you could be reading some literature one day and have a view on soemthing, but the next day you might be inspired or driven by something else: this is ultimatley like us as practioners, we are all ways changing and finding new ways to follow our practice. I think it is interesting to note that this change in perception could have some biase in the data too, as we may go in with a preconcieved idea, depending on what we have read or understood that day. REPORT ON THE WHOLE PROCESS NOT JUST THE TOPIC- something that I must remeber and stood out for me, we are nbot trying to find an answer- this is a small snap shot of what we are learning which we are reporting on, there is no difinitive answer needed or to come to. Connection - in Module 3 we are trying to apply the knowledge we have percieved inn our practise. I think this course has also helped me to question nore, the how and why? rather than just a one minded view point. This course has been an opportinity to learn and grow. I have learnt to challenge assumptions. Questioning what I know- I think this is just a bit of a life lesson too, always being curious and wanting to know more, this is something I will take away with me into my practise. We also spoke about reflextion and the importance of reflecting on the good and bad to en-rich our next experiences. There is a great podcast called 'The 98%' and episode S3 EP14 "You can make yourself a better CEO" is so great, it talks about "controlling the controllables" something which I love, and has changed the way I view my practise. I think this course has also put a certain amount of trust into my ability to be able to study autonomosuly, work with given amterial and find my path through it, that my path and journey is valid and this is a BIG connection that has blende dmy inquiry and this topic. Your career and finding your balance is your own unique path and the way you meander through it, is fine! It is okay to fail, if we refelct on it we can make the next situation better. FInally a take aay that is simple but important to remeber is THIS IS BA LEVEL AND IT IS THE BEGGINING - this course just opens the door to answering the inquiry we have embarked on and this is true with my practise too, I have started to be curious about so much and it will just continue!
