Little Wonderings...Module 2
Some things I have been thinking about and keep coming back to is the idea on...
SUCCESS- What it means to people, having a thick skin in this profession (as a performer) is something that my networks talk a lot on. When are you happy with the jobs you are getting and does this success mean you are happy... I am not sure if this is too BIG a question yet.
Alison in module two had some great TED Talks she has listened to over Christmas including:

Interesting that the ability to really want to be successful is so intuitive with your self worth. something that has stuck a lot with me is the documentary - The trailer is here https://vimeo.com/11335940 but it is on Netflix I think. all about finding your FLOW and that is where you find true happiness.
Of course this all links in with MENTAL HEALTH and how that blends in with creativity- I did a blog on this after being in Sri Lanka and completing a meditation course which really helped me understand the basics of bringing meditation in to my every day life to help with this very turbulent career choice!
I recently did a play reading called 'Bedbug' all about insomnia which causes depression and the character is a poet studying the link to depression and creativity, something known as 'The Sylivia Plath Effect'
I am also wondering on 'how creativity can help people' as a research idea- I have blogged about creativity being important in schools. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5450978/ this article talks about how there is not much information on why creativity is important or meaningful at all but rather a lot of studies look at the mental health/ bad side of creativity and it causing issues.
I am also thinking of how much I enjoy the rehearsal room and
'playing' to create something, doing a project over Christmas made me feel like I was back doing what I love and why this is important, bringing words to life and being able to show it to an audience.

I have been on some blogs and realise I commented on Cathleen's blog
"Mapping to Build Understanding" back in Module one, but ow think I have more understanding of it now- so will take a look at:
Tedx Talk "Happy Maps" by Daniele Quercia
I think this is a really great question as it would mean completely separate things to different people. It has so many angles and could lead to as you say, looking at mental health. Actually do people have a different idea of success if they are brought up in different areas or culturally.
ReplyDeleteThat is really interesting, thank you - yes looking at other angles of success for other people and there experiences, thank you Rachael!
